Hey: Let's not pop back up with 3 posts in one day after an absence of
approximately a year (lurking? not lurking? too busy reading traffic
reports to nine million people a week?), and then demand that the rest
of us start talking about music. We *have* been talking about music, as
well as everything else which has been talked about, in more or less
static proportions, since this little ol' group began, 2.5 or so years
ago.
If *you* want to see the amount of music-related discussion increase,
then *you* need to post more about music. Period. End of story. Don't
dump that responsibility off on the rest of us and then whine when we
don't live up to yr arbitrary standard for how much music-related
posting is enough.
So, Keith, how 'bout that Rebar show the other night?
Didja make it to the Cradle for the Xmas show? I was equally floored by
Walker Martin's ability to fingerpick the insane shit that he does
(though I couldn't *hear* half of it, for some reason), and by the
amount of booze oozing out of 3.2.3's eyesockets. When that man vacates,
he does so in a serious fashion.
But so then I attempted to go over to L&S for the Tonebenders, but there
was nobody there, except this sort of scraggly looking band playing
congas to an audience of 3, who were not (neither audience nor band) the
Tonebenders.
All was remedied this morning (well, uh, this early-afternoon, but close
enough) when I showed *back* up at the L&S, for brunch. Holy heavens.
Everything sublime on my plate, from sweet blue corn muffin to crispy,
non-soggy hashbrowns with salsa, to the main course, whose name escapes
me, of cornmeal tortillas topped with black beans, fried eggs, cheese
and red sauce. Sour cream on the side. Free coffee.
I knew, when I finagled the 3-5 p.m. shift at XDU, that brunch would be
playing a larger role in my life, but I had no idea it would pay off so
soon and so well. Wowie. Next week I'm getting there earlier so I can
have more time to sit and digest and drink coffee and read the paper and
thus have a fighting chance of (a) finishing my meal, and (b) being
ambulatory afterwards.

p.s. list-folks: the listproc machine seems to be downer than down.
You'd think they'd mention this ahead of time, but oh well. Nate
mentioned something about a flood which may or may not have had
something to do with it. Anyway. You're not the only ones, is my point.
