I got it the other day. Despite the fact that I love both bands, I'd have
to say that the Jessamine side is dull, the FSA side is duller. Bardo Pond
and Roy Montgomery are better at creating epics. L. Mazzacane ("The Artist
Formerly Known As Guitar Roberts") Conners is surprisingly uninspired on
his side. I think his insane amount of releases in the last two years has
worn him down a bunch. Oh, and Charalambides didn't need a whole side.

Grand Royal is the most analog synth obsessed label in the world, if their
masturbating over all things Moogish in the last edition of their magazine
can be trusted.
These two albums are perfect examples of records with good music ruined by
some of the most horrible "singing" you will likely ever hear. Simeon's
high pitched semi-operatic squawk is embarrassing to hear, and so
prominent in the mix that they obscure his groovy grooves. His lyrics
range from the vapid to the moronic. I taped over my tape of them, mainly
because I think many bands that exhibit a Silver Apples influence
(Jessamine, the 1995 and earlier Too Pure bands, etc) do it better than
that. Silver Apples are much better as a concept than in practice, or were
in 1969.
