I have "Some Girls Like Cigarettes" also and I really don't like it. "Misery
and Women" is different- it's really pretty. If you are reluctant, maybe you
could listen to a used copy at Record Exchange or Monster. I got a
bootlegged copy of the new Pavement record. It's kinda dissapointing. I
think that old Stephen is resting on his laurels at this point. The record
is catchy and witty and fun but it seriously lacks the imaginative spirit
and wrenching melodies and dissonance that made you fall in love with
Pavement. It's a new, stripped down, simplified Pavement. I sort of knew
what to expect from this record because they played most of it during a show
at the Cat's Cradle this summer. Were you there? Judging from the last EP, I
think they're on a downward spiral.
