I'm not playing "old school" here, but the scorchers haven't been
interesting to me in years. Seriously, I saw them right after they signed
to mammoth, and I was bored to tears. It all seemed to contrived and if
Warner hit one more freaking metal pose I was gonna barf.
I was very glad to read in a recent interview (maybe in music monitor?)
where the Backsliders refering to themselves as a bar band. I think
that's very true and applicable. I don't particularly like their music,
but I'm so glad they didn't go on about being alternative country.
Speaking of which, sp8: I've got a drumset and been known to drop a
little country swing. I gave up upright bass due to chronic arthritis --
I can only play for about 20 minutes at a time before I'm screaming in
pain.
later,
Gary
