Look, I tried to just stay out of this, but I got 15 messages tonight
and 2/3 of them were this bullshit. So okay.

Yeah, well, "mine's still bigger than yours." What the fuck is up with
this line of questioning? alt.binaries.pictures.erotica.urine has more
traffic than we do--so don't be shy, head on over there.

To answer your first question, the people who estimate UseNet readership
estimate our readership at about 3,000. I would say that that's
plus-or-minus at least 70%, though. Call it somewhere between 300 and
5,000. Mostly lurkers, and folks looking for specific information.

In terms of regular posters, we've got a nice warm core of 15-20, which
is about the same as many UseNet groups which are focused around a core
of regulars, as opposed to the ultra-high-traffic Q&A groups, like
comp.sys.*, or whatever.

Well, you've pretty much just proved yourself to be talking out your
asshole. Since it's like 1:20 in the a.m., I'm just gonna go to bed and
ignore everything else you say. All we ask for here is a little bit of
basic respect, and a reasonable amount of common sense, and we'll return
the favor.

But if you're going to come barging in here with your bullshit promo
posts for some washed-up has-been reggae drummer who is so hard-up that
he's coming down from Baltimore to sit in at the Skylight with a truly
wretched band of open-mic-night refugees like Emrys (and I've heard
their CD, so don't think I don't know what I'm talking about), *and* you
do so obviously *without* bothering to read the group before you start
posting, then I don't see why I should waste any more time trying to be
civil to you.

Reggae, as it exists today, is the most artistically and culturally
bankrupt musical form on the planet, for the most part. You've got to
wade through 10 times as many shit reggae bands to find one good one, as
you do in any other genre, *including* gangsta rap and even fucking
mainstream country.

But despite this fact, there are plenty of reggae fans in the area.
You'll find them drooling into their pot-stained pillowcases in frat
houses all over the Triangle. Only problem is that they can't fucking
read well enough to make any sense out of UseNet, so you won't find 'em
here.

Hope that "helps."
