saw a great show last night at the babylon. yes, the one i was asking
everyone about for the past two weeks, Squirrel Nut Zippers and the Blue
Rags(i think that was what they called themselves.). anyhow.
was kinda disappointed at the number of people that dressed up for the show.
i could probably have counted them all on my hands.
blue rags are from asheville, nc. they played that old western ragtime
swing that makes everyone dance so historically. and they did it damn well.
they are signed to sub-pop. i wanted to buy a record but rumor has it that
they've only been together about three or four months and wont release
anything till this summer.
this was my first time seeing the snz. i was pretty impressed. everyone
seemed to love them. didn't think the sound was too good but still a
rocking set. they played almost 30 songs (at least thats what the set list
showed. by the end of the night i just wanted to sleep forever.
once again i was the gimp of the crowd. the only one there over 6 feet
tall. lots of girlies asking how tall i was. few people asking if i play
basketball. i was also surprised at the age group of the crowd. since i
only saw about 10 others with X's on their hands i'd guess that everyone
else was at least 21. most appeared to be around the age of 25 to 30 though.
for some reason i thought there would be a lot more underagers there.
something i learned from the show.. take a dance partner. especially if
your too insecure/shy to ask the gal next to you to swing with you.
5th gear in my car fell out on the way home. takes a long time to drive 50
miles doing about 45mph. just hope i'll be able to make to CH this weekend.
shait.
