WINSTON GRENNAN, NANCY LEWIS PRESENTING LECTURES
AT MUSIC BUZZ '97 CONFERENCE IN ATLANTA
Winston Grennan, the legendary Jamaican drummer who has influenced the
world with his rhythms, will present a lecture on "The Music Of
Jamaica:
>From Ska To Reggae" at Music Buzz '97 Conference on February 22 at
Georgia
State University in Atlanta. Grennan's manager and publicist, Nancy
Lewis,
will host the Conference panel, "Getting Exposure: Dealing With Music
Media
Press" and "Music On The Net: Internet Music Media & Promotions."
Lewis
will also present "How To Develop & Implement A PR/Publicity Campaign
In The
Music Industry."
Grennan, who has recorded hundreds of songs and albums in Jamaica,
England,
Europe and the US during his 30-year career, is most widely recognized
for
his contribution to Jamaican music; he received a Certificate Of
Appreciation For Music Development from Jamaica's Prime Minister prior
to
immigrating to America in 1973. Grennan recently completed
negotiations for
inclusion of two original songs in the film, SLEEPY HEADS, by Japanese
cinematographer/
director Yoshifumi Hosoya, and is currently in the final
pre-production
stage of his album, "Wash Over Gold," scheduled for a Spring 1997
release.
Lewis is president of two Baltimore-based agencies, ENTERTAINMENT
WORKS
and NANCY LEWIS PUBLIC RELATIONS, and has recently presented lectures
on
public relations and publicity in the entertainment industry at Coppin
State
College and at the University of Baltimore. A member of Women In Film
And
Video Of Maryland, Inc. (WIFV), Maryland Lawyers For The Arts, Inc.
(MLA)
and Reggae Ambassadors Worldwide (RAW), Lewis' agencies have
concentrated in
promoting theatre and music since 1989. Nominated to Who's Who Of
American
Women in 1983, Lewis was named "One Of The Top 100 People In The Music
Industry In The Mid-Atlantic" by Music Monthly Magazine in 1991.
Music Buzz '97 offers participants the opportunity to learn the latest
music industry developments and to meet with representatives from
major and
independent labels, artist management and promotion agencies and
record
distribution companies.
