okay folks.  it's rare i get pissed at bands at a show but last night set me
off.  the show put together by a local bandmember with three triangle bands
and two local bands took place last night in my humble town of danville.  

first let me inform any bands planning to play in danville of a few things...
1. there isn't a danville scene.  just a bunch of bored teens wanting to
have a good time, usually getting fucked up in the end.
2. out of town band names earn no high status without paying their dues
first.  by saying this i mean that if you have to play a show for only 10-15
people first time then tough shit. treat the people there with equal respect.
3. there is a city-wide curfew on all those under the age of 18.  play a
short set.  make your point and set-up and breakdown as quick as possible.
(the majority of the crowd is under 18.  i'd say almost 75% of the crowd.)
4. bring shit to sell or give away.  kids love that shit.(my band used to
throw out elvis trading cards or marshmallows.)

anyway.  i really enjoyed the floating applicators and plastic bitches.  the
two local bands werent half bad either.  there was that one band though that
set me off.  by the time they started their set it was 12AM so there weren't
many people there.  given there were microphone problems all night the
singer/guitarist got mad and hit the mic with his guitar then kicked the
mic-stand off the stage, which hit the owner of the place in the groin. next
song.  half way through the song singerguy starts his karate routine and
flips-off the crowd.  later in the set he tries to start a fight with one of
the drummers of the band that played before him.

i was really pissed about all this.  the owner of the place wasn't making
any money off the show.  he was letting the bands use his stuff to play and
hopefully have fun.  some of the people from the triangle bands were pretty
disrespectful and arrogant to the local kids.  i'm sorry, but i don't see
why you would want to play an out of town show and piss the people off.
especially when we're not making any money off your pissy attitudes.  i'll
rant more later.  just had to spit some of that shit before work.
