Exactly. My perception of a place is so explicitly tied into the people
who are there and not in any landmarks. As soon those that make Chapel
Hill for you leave, its not going to be the same. From my time spent in
CH, roughly 1981 to 1993, there just seemed to be more. Sure we lost some
great places (Pumphouse, Upper Deck, Rhythm Alley, etc) but something new
would takes it place and as soon as 'the gang' started showing up, it was
basically the same. As soon as 'the gang' starting moving away, CH was the
same.

I believe Visart came in Summer of 1987, at least in the store near
Kroger's...uh I mean Wellspring. My membership card was like #0003 as they
were giving away free memberships to the first 50 or so customers. Wizard
of Vid opened in 1985 I think.
