Diane- you should get in touch with NCIFA (the North Carolina Independent
Filmmaker's Association). They have a web page at
http://pages.tico.com/ncifa/. What they do is (for a fee of $50 a year)
put a list of all their members' resumes up and give advice to film
producers who come into nc to make films these resumes. so, for example,
if somebody came in and said they needed a music supervisor, they'd get
your name. pretty much everybody looking for crew in NC looks through
NCIFA.
the catch is you have to have a credit on a film that was made for public
viewing. I don't think this film has to have been made in NC, though. so
if you haven't done any work before, no dice, but if you've got work than
you can join.
it's a good deal. you can get health insurance through them too, along
with a list of production companies coming to NC in the next few months so
that you can call them about jobs.
