it was just as they were getting famous but not nearly as famous as they
were gonna get. well, famous enough to be going to gigs in a limo but i don't
think they'd played a coliseum yet. there wasn't much college radio for them
to get as famous as they were gonna. maybe this was the show that put 'em
over the edge. anyway, they played that show as a benefit to keep fridays
open. every other person in north carolina showed up, every fourth person in
north carolina played on stage with 'em, and fridays made tons of money. then
fridays took all the money, closed for good the next week, and everyone
involved in the show was right pissed.
