So, I went to the Poor Valentino, Whiskeytown, Trailer Bride show last
night at Captured Live.

It's a gosh durn shame that Captured Live isn't a full-time venue. I
really like that room.

Anyway, Poor Valentino was up first. All-female trio. It was apparant
that they're pretty new at this whole rock thing. But, in my eyes, that
was to their advantage. I would've HATED a "seasoned" band on stage doing
the same thing. There's just something quaint about terrifying
nervousness during "green" rock shows.

Whiskeytown. I just keep going to their shows hoping one night I'm going
to get it. I never have. They played mostly new stuff last night, much
to the audience's chagrin. Actually, much to the audience's ignorace --
they didn't caputure (I just realized the venue pun) the attendees
attention. I think Ross and I were the only two people clapping after one
particular song. I really want to like those guys. I don't DISlike them,
I just have a hard time seeing them as anything other than a mediocre rock
band. What I mean by that is I'm *sure* they've put on blazing shows
before, something that's caught everyone's attention -- I've just never
managed to catch one.

Trailer Bride. While I wussed out and left after song number six (damn
day job makin' me get up at 6:30am), I must say I was truly diggin'
Trailer Bride. They improved SO much in the past year. However, I think
the harmonica could probably be lost, and I wouldn't miss it. Definately
one of the most original sounds in the "new country movement" (yuck I hate
saying that).

I also magaged to purchase the XDU benefit CD, which is on my player right
now.

What, aside from bio ritmo, which I can't attend for fear of seeing my
recently-dumped-me-broke-my-heart-I-should-be-a-blues-singer
ex-girlfriend, is going on tonight?
