Actually, I buy whatever groceries I can at Cliff's Meat Market. Chicken
there is much cheaper by the pound than at Harris Teeter. People have
told me not to go there because it smells. ITS A FUCKING BUTCHER SHOP,
ASSHOLES. It smells in there because of all of the meat!! Also, there is
a great mom & pop gas station in Graham that is also a bit cheaper. This
great old lady works there (maybe lives there too). You don't go in to
pay- You drive up when you're done pumping and pay drive-thru style. They
also give out gum. Not to mention some great Flea Markets on the way.
One big problem in Chapel Hill is that the local grocers (such as
Fowler's) have a tough time competing with the bulk stores. I hate those
places. Is it legal to break up six packs of things to sell individually?
I can't buy six packs of Mello Yello 20 oz's, but when I buy singles, the
register rings up $2.59. Can't be legal...
Anyway, if you look hard enough, you'll find the stores that are cool. It
is a commitment, though. Fight thaat immediate gratification bullshit.
Hey Opus: I just got a gift certificate for Blockbuster. How can I
get the most for the least there? Any secrets?
